Global Students for Climate Justice
United for Action.
Inspired by Justice.
Who We Are
Global Students for Climate Justice is envisioned as a worldwide youth movement championing bold, equitable climate solutions, founded by students connected to McGill University in the Fall of 2025. We aim to unite students from every continent to demand justice, action, and a safe future for all.
“We are on a highway to climate hell with our foot still on the accelerator.”
- UN Secretary General António Guterres, 2022
Despite strong leadership from the UN, many countries have not followed through on their pledges.
Our Mission
✦ Support the International Court of Justice Decision: We stand behind the ICJ’s call for urgent climate action and accountability from governments and corporations worldwide.
✦ Global Youth for Climate Justice: Youth everywhere are mobilizing for climate justice—insisting that the planet’s health, our futures,
and human rights are protected by
law, not just promises.
Our Call: An International Environmental Summit, Summer 2026
✔ Countries have made important pledges regarding methane and biodiversity:
The Global Methane Pledge aims to reduce methane emissions by at least 30% from 2020 levels by 2030.
The Biodiversity 30x30 Pledge aims to designate 30% of land and 30% of ocean areas as protected by 2030.
We are proposing that these pledges be strengthened with commitments to make them legally binding resolutions.
✔ We are hoping for a meeting in Paris, potentially titled Paris 2, which could include actors such as: UN and treaty bodies; environmental ministers from around the globe; C40 mayors; NGOs; multilateral development banks and climate funds; scientific leaders, and youth.
✔ We see this as a potential follow-up to the summit taking place in Columbia in April 2026, which is calling for a transition off fossil fuels. In addition to a focus on methane and biodiversity, we envision that this summit would give countries an opportunity to revisit their Paris pledges, bringing them in line with holding global temperatures well below a 2°C rise.
✔ Any resolutions would require ratification by individual nations to become legally binding.
Our Vision: Engagement, Community, Hope
We are also envisioning a global concert—an international, live-streamed event connecting audiences around the world.
Centered on critical environmental themes, this initiative is designed to spark intergenerational engagement with meaningful climate action.
Building on this momentum, we envision an ongoing series of Global Town Halls uniting scientists, youth, and climate leaders. These meetings will empower communities to drive real change by exploring solution-focused approaches to key tipping points.
